Repair Guide: Brake Replacement on a 2015 Honda Civic
In this guide, we will walk you through the process of brake replacement on a 2015 Honda Civic.
Tools Needed:
- Lug wrench
- Jack stands
- Socket set
- Brake pads
- Brake rotors
- C-Clamp
Steps:
- Park your vehicle on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
- Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels using your lug wrench.
- Raise your vehicle using the jack, support it with jack stands for safety.
- Remove the lug nuts and the wheel.
- Locate the brake caliper, and remove the bolts holding it in place with a suitable socket from your set.
- Once the caliper is free, remove the old brake pads.
- Use your C-Clamp to push the caliper piston back into its bore.
- Remove the rotor by removing the bolts holding it in place. If it is stuck, tap it gently with a mallet.
- Install the new rotor, and secure it with the bolts.
- Install the new brake pads in the caliper, and re-install the caliper on the rotor. Reinstall and tighten the bolts.
- Repeat these steps with the other wheel.
- Once both wheels have new brakes, reinstall the wheels and tighten the lug nuts.
- Lower your vehicle down from the jack stands, and apply pressure to the brake pedal until it feels firm. This will help set the new brake pads.
- Test your brakes in a safe, controlled environment before regular use.
Note: Always double-check your work for safety.
