Repair Guide: Brake Replacement on a 2015 Honda Civic

In this guide, we will walk you through the process of brake replacement on a 2015 Honda Civic.

Tools Needed:

Steps:

  1. Park your vehicle on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
  2. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels using your lug wrench.
  3. Raise your vehicle using the jack, support it with jack stands for safety.
  4. Remove the lug nuts and the wheel.
  5. Locate the brake caliper, and remove the bolts holding it in place with a suitable socket from your set.
  6. Once the caliper is free, remove the old brake pads.
  7. Use your C-Clamp to push the caliper piston back into its bore.
  8. Remove the rotor by removing the bolts holding it in place. If it is stuck, tap it gently with a mallet.
  9. Install the new rotor, and secure it with the bolts.
  10. Install the new brake pads in the caliper, and re-install the caliper on the rotor. Reinstall and tighten the bolts.
  11. Repeat these steps with the other wheel.
  12. Once both wheels have new brakes, reinstall the wheels and tighten the lug nuts.
  13. Lower your vehicle down from the jack stands, and apply pressure to the brake pedal until it feels firm. This will help set the new brake pads.
  14. Test your brakes in a safe, controlled environment before regular use.

Note: Always double-check your work for safety.
